South Apennines-Calabrian Arc
Seismic Survey

High quality seismic data over the deepwater extension of the prolific South Apennines oil play and the shallower gas producing section.

Over the last decade four large oil fields, containing over 1.0 BBO proved recoverable reserves, have be discovered in Miocene-Cretaceous carbonates within the South Apennines thrust system of southern Italy.  The area also contains large gas fields, (Luna, 1.3 TCF recoverable), in Miocene and younger clastic reservoirs.

Prior to the acquisition of Wavetech's South Apennines-Calabrian Arc survey no significant exploration had been conducted in the geologically analogous deep-water areas offshore.  For a discussion of the geology and potential of the area, and to view some of the structures delineated by the data.
